Bridal Party

YAY! So I managed to get a yes from my two best friends to stand up on our wedding! Jen Swasas as our Maid of Honor and Amy Haake as a Bridesmaid! I am so excited about this. I always assumed Jen would say yes. We always used to say that we would be each other's Maid of Honor but over the last few years of crazy work and school schedules, we never really saw that much of each other so I didnt know if she would still want to. I am so glad she is! I also thought Amy wouldnt want to because she is in Austin, TX but, she was happy to!

The Date Search

We have been trying to figure out what date will be best for our wedding. For about a year, I wanted the date of September 26th, 2009 because 26 happens to be my lucky number but as I am finding out, having a wedding on a Friday is a heck of a lot cheaper! I am not sure as t how open people are for Friday weddings though. I know people work and it isnt exactly a 15 minute ready period to change into formal wedding attire. I guess I am just trying to cut costs somewhere. If anyone has an opinion, please share! (Also, if you know a good wedding venue that is NOT Patrick Haley Mansion.)

The Engagement

A lot of people have asked about how it happened so here it is!

Of course everyone knows that I bugged Chris often about getting engaged. Afterall, we had been together for over 4 years! But he managed to suprise me and asked me outside my front door. Appearently everyone knew that he was going to ask except for me! (And I thought I was good at knowing when people are being sneaky but obviously not).

Chris non-chalantly asked me if I wanted to go get dinner that Saturday night and because we go out and get dinner often, I didnt think much of it untilhe mentioned going the The Courtyard Bistro in Frankfort. Although I was suspicious, I also Chris thought it was one of the only good resturants in our hometown and I knew also that he didnt want to go into the city. So, we went to dinner and had a bottle of (very strong) French wine and some good food. I started thinking that maybe he was going to ask me at dinner, but he didn't. Then I thought, maybe he is going to at dessert! But he didnt then either. So we paid and left to go home. I asked Chris if he wanted to stay by my place for the night but he said that he wanted to just go home and he would see me in thw morning. I was upset about this but he said he would walk me to the door.

I gave him a sad face at the door and kissed him good night. However, when I walked inside, I saw his shadow stroll off through the porch light, thus ending our night out. But, to my suprise, there were two dozen red roses sitting on the bottom stair of our stair well. I noticed them taking off my shoes. I asked m y mom if they were from Chris and she said, "I don't know, take a look." When I did, I saw there was a card and on the envelope it said "Please open the front door..." I think my heart stopped!

I went to the door and Chris was outside. He told me to come out and shut the door behind me. I did and he said I love you about 5 times and being speechless for 2 minutes before reaching to his pocket, pulling out a ring and getting on one knee. He said "I was wondering if ... you will marry me."

Of course, I said yes.
